Sign of the Times, from Prince to Public Enemy
Pet Sounds Bar, Stockholm , 21 October to 30 November 2026
Micke Sandström has photographed live music for more than 25 years, and over 400 artists have passed in front of his lens. Sign of the Times is the 19th exhibition he takes part in, and it follows one thread through that archive: soul, R&B and hip-hop, from Prince to Public Enemy, from Erykah Badu to Titiyo.
The exhibition gathers around 22 photographs from stages and festivals, among them Prince, Public Enemy, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Post Malone and Odd Future. Some are quiet, some loud, and they are chosen less for who is in the frame than for the moment the genre was actually happening on stage. The title comes from Prince, and the show is as much about how these sounds have shaped everything around them as it is about the artists themselves.
Join us for the vernissage on Wednesday 21 October, 17:00 to 20:00.
All works in the exhibition are available as limited edition fine art prints. Prints up to 30×30 cm are on Hahnemühle FineArt Studio Enhanced. Prints from 30×40 cm and larger are on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta 325 g/m². Select image and format below.
