Thåström
Copenhagen 2022
A Decade Behind the Lens
It started at Way Out West in 2011. I had a photo pass, a stage, and one of Sweden's most compelling artists in the viewfinder. What I didn't know then was that it would be the beginning of something much longer.
Over the years, the assignments kept coming, portrait shoots, and concerts across Sweden. The relationship grew from a single festival pass into a genuine collaboration. When Thåström needed images for the live album "Som jordgubbarna smakade", I was there. The cover became one of the most meaningful credits of my career.
Then came the 2022–2025 era. A new chapter, new concerts, new energy, and a run of shows that were eventually captured on the live album "Flytta isbergen, vattna svärmorstungan, ta med soporna ut". I photographed a significant part of it. Some of those images ended up on the sleeve and in the booklet. Others found their way onto gallery walls.
In spring 2026, a selection of images from 2021–2025 was exhibited at Pet Sounds Bar in Stockholm — press photographs taken ahead of the tours alongside live images from the concerts themselves. A document of an era.
Shooting Thåström is never predictable. There's an intensity in how he holds a stage, something raw and controlled at the same time, that makes every concert a different photograph. After more than 15 years, I'm still finding new frames.
